The construction and basic features of the chord harmonica
Dec 08, 2017

At present, in the market, the reason why the chord harmonica is so popular is mainly due to two reasons. One is because it is cheap and easy to carry. Second, it is easy to learn, which is able to meet the requirements of the music lovers to play. In fact, the chord harmonica is one of the smallest instruments. The basic structure is the reed, seat plate, fret and cover plate.
From the structure of the chord harmonica, usually the reed is fixed to the seat plate, and most manufacturers use rivets or spot welding to fix the reed. And some manufacturers will process the seat plate through using the screw to fix the reed for easy maintenance. In addition to these basic structures, the chromatic harmonica also includes the mouthpiece, spring and keystroke slider.
For the user, the most basic function of the chords harmonica is to make the harmony, and it is also because of this, it can be used in the harmonica ensemble. The reed configuration takes the chords composition tone as a unit, each of which is usually composed of four to eight pieces of reeds.
Because of the different manufacturers, we can see that the basic harmony of the chord harmonica is different, including the major triad, minor triad and dominant seventh chord. In addition, according to the model, you can add the augmented triad and diminished triad. However, due to structural constraints, the harmonica is not able to carry out the unessential note freely like the guitar or piano.
